The Student Health Clinic provides high quality medical care to enrolled Georgia State students. Students who attend to their own healthcare needs are more likely to meet their educational goals. The Student Health Clinic’s caring and committed team of professionals is ready to serve students when they need medical care or advice.
Please note that for life or limb threatening emergencies on campus, call the Georgia State University Police at 404-413-3333 in case an ambulance transport is needed. Students who are off campus and need emergency assistance should call 911.
Excuse Note Policy
The Student Health Clinic medical providers are frequently asked by students to write out a medical excuse for classes or work. The providers use the following guidelines when writing an excuse note:
- Excuse notes will not be written for problems for which the providers do not provide care. Students who missed a class or work due to illness and did not see a provider at the Student Health Clinic until the next week will not be given a note.
- For classes missed due to a wellness visit (i.e. study abroad physical, well woman exam, etc.), an excuse note will not be written. Students should plan their wellness visits around their class schedule.
- A student may request a Verification of Visit which will display the times the student was in the clinic.
- If a student received care from his or her primary care provider for an illness, the excuse note should be requested by that provider.
