Excuse Note Policy
The Student Health Clinic medical providers are frequently asked by students to write out a medical excuse for classes or work. The providers use the following guidelines when writing an excuse note:
- Excuse notes will not be written for problems for which the providers do not provide care. If you missed a class or work due to illness and did not see a provider at the Student Health Clinic until the next week, a note will not be given.
- Classes missed due to a wellness visit (i.e. study abroad physical, well woman exam, etc.) will not be written. Students are encouraged to plan visits around their schedules. Please plan accordingly.
- A student may request a Verification of Visit which will display the times the student was in the clinic.
- If the care for an illness was provided by your primary care provider, the excuse note should be requested by that provider.
